How To Have Fun On A Plane:

When you are waiting for everyone to still get on the plane, and find their seat, and you can still have your phone on, this is how you entertain a toddler:
You flip the camera on your phone and watch themselves make faces....
THESE ARE ALL ELLIE'S FUNNY FACES:

These are kinda my favorite.....

And then you yell: "hooooooooraaaaayyyyyy" when you go through turbulence like Ellie did...while I just grabbed onto my armrest! ha ha ha ha ha ha

HOW WE CAN HELP OKLAHOMA:

I can only imagine....
I think I speak for everyone, when I say my heart heart broke as I saw all the images on the news of the tornadoes in Oklahoma. I know there are awful things happening all over the world, and my heart breaks and hurts for them all. Some days I just can't imagine all the awful things on this planet because I just feel like my heart can't handle this world.

To see the images, the videos, and to hear the death toll. And to all the families that don't have a home to go "home to", and all the people who've lost everything. And especially to the families that lost their little ones. My heart goes out to you, you are wrapped in prayers that fill you with Heavenly comfort, hope, and blessings to replace what was lost, and hope of holding your loved one again. And the benefit is, that when you see them again in Heaven, it will be for always.

I know my dad is in heaven, and it will be almost 1 year, this June. My heart knows the indescribable ache of losing a loved one. It's something that can even been seen in the eyes, it's a look that you can see, the hurt, coming from their heart. The feeling is not something that words can describe.

I wish there were none of these disasters, awful events, killings, shootings, bombings to write about, but this world is not perfect, it's full of disaster, people with evil intentions and thoughts. I'm glad to know this life is not forever, who would want to live this life full of struggle, financial worries, heartache, and disasters and awful people...forever?!

I'm glad to know that my dad is Heaven, free of the awful stuff of this life. That this life is not all we have. That Heaven doesn't have any of this stuff, and that our hope can be that we will not have these worries and this pain and loss from this life there.

HOW WE CAN HELP OKLAHOMA:
A beloved state, that is so much more than a famous musical, a place full of precious hearts that need our help, and they say more storms are on the way.

SALVATION ARMY: CLICK HERE to donate online or text STORM to 80888 to donate $10 or by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY.

Lots of prayers and our hearts are with you Oklahoma, Kandee

Recipe for A Good Day: Rollin' on Your Unicorn

So it turns out that all you need for a good day is:
1. A Ride on Your Unicorn (because I think everyone neglects their unicorn rides  a little...ha ha ha)

This is still one of my favorite pictures that makes me laugh with awesomeness! Not only is the bike awesome but the boy riding it is awesome too! I love this kid and his bike!

AND you might need one more thing:
2. A little "click clack" of your plastic, princess hi heels.

And maybe a fruit sticker on your shoot to add some dazzle.
Ellie making sure your Ariel hi heel is on and ready to keep on scooting on her unicorn.

WHERE'D I GET THAT-NESS:
Oh, and I always forget, but in case anyone wants to know where we got out unicorn it the: Ride On Unicorn from Little Tykes

Everyone, and by everyone I mean, every little girl that loves to hear the click clack of a plastic princess shoe, our shoe of the day is: Ariel Disney Princess Sparkle Shoe

And we out. "Rolling down the street on our unicorns sippin' on smoothies and juice".....your Kandee

How to Make Grocery Shopping Fun?!?

This is my favorite thing to put in my shopping cart: Ellie, making funny faces.

THE ART OF GROCERY SHOPPING
This is how and/or why I have embraced the art of grocery shopping, which
I hadn't really been of fan of, since being a kid, and standing next to the grocery cart as my mom would always stroll past the cereals we wanted (Frosted Flakes, Sugar Smacks or Pops) and she'd get us a box of Cheerios, the plain ones.

Enjoy the small stuff:

We look at the flowers, and sometimes take some home with us to brighten our kitchen!
We learn how to smile and say hi to all the people we always see at that we know at the grocery store.

I have fun talking with the kids at the store:
•showing them new or unusual fruit or veggies
•talking about where different foods come from
•asking them about their favorite foods and why they like them
•and I let them help me pick out certain things, like if we're getting yogurt they pick which flavors
•and they like when I give them jobs like picking out apples, or other fruit
•and it's a good way to practice counting or even adding (we have 2 apple, if we add 2 more, how many do we have, then they count them up) or practice counting in another language (I only know how to count in Spanish and only to 5 in French and Chinese, so if we get more than 5, I'm in trouble! ha ha)

Alani and Ellie having fun of their own.

We practice how to talk quietly, mostly Blake has trouble with this one, he seems to have one volume setting, which is LOUD. ha ha ha ha The good thing is if my mom is shopping with me, and Blake is with her, I can always hear wherever they are!

And then we usually get something yummy to eat for dinner while we are there (this doesn't work so well at Trader Joe's, but Whole Foods is where we buffet it up).

We ate a smorgasbord of  soups, salad with walnuts, strawberry smoothie, and my fav drink from Whole Foods, the Cherry Lime MamaChia drink.

And at the end of the day, or shopping trip, you can make anything fun! I see people that are not making it fun, and then I look at all my smiling faces, and I'm so glad we make it fun!

Life is too short and too full of tasks that don't seem fun, to not make even the smallest chores, fun and full of laughter! And if you have kids, watch how a mom that makes things fun, has happier kids that are so busy having fun with their mom, that they don't have time too much time to think about misbehaving, because they're busy having fun!

(and this was Ellie before we left the house, with her bow still in her hair)
In case anyone wants or wonders, her dress we got at Marshall's (It's a DKNY) and her leopard print toddler shoes are from VANS.

Huge hugs and getting ready to go whip up a snack with all our freshly bought fruit, your Kandee

PS. A new video is on it's way today, check my little place on youtube to see if it's up!

3 Ways To Make Your Morning Happier For Your Kids

Morning are my favorite part of the day. Not the time that my alarm is set to, but the part when everyone wakes up happy, or not. And the "not" part is how we are going to add some happiness to our little or big one's day!

#1. Wake up with a  smile and maybe a song or two!
My little Ellie wakes up most day smiling before her lil' eyes even open, and yes, she might just be my happiest, most smiley and cheerful baby, but I know how to wrangle smiles out of my other not-as-smiley-in-the-morning-ones!

* The act of smiling, naturally makes you feel better. Watch, smile right this second...go on. You felt a little happier huh? We smile, laugh, giggle and grin from the moment we wake up. And if someone is grumbly or not so happy, we cheer them up, tell them a silly joke, talk in a funny voice until a smile shows up!

*Smile at your little ones and greet them with the happiest, "good morning!"

A Little Music Goes A Long Way
Turn your morning into a dance party. Dancing, music and even singing make everything better! I like to sing the "Good Morning" song from Singing in The Rain, to all my kids in the mornings.

Music also makes you do things faster, whether it's cleaning or getting ready in the morning!
So crank up some happy tunes and and start the day off with some "pep in your step"!

#2. LOVE, CHEER, and ENCOURAGE
This is the most important step! Start off the day by filling up the hearts of those that matter most, with love. Tell them how much you love them, how awesome they are, how you love their style (especially when it's time to get dressed), and always tell them how thankful you are for having them in your life!

I always try to encourage my kids to smile at other kids that may need a smile, to go play and talk to anyone kids looks like they are all alone, and to just add some sparkle and cheer everywhere they go!

I remember when Jordan was little, some kids were picking on one of his classmates who was crying and Jordan told the other kids to leave him alone, and he told him how it was ok, and that he'd play with him. And later the little boy even wrote him a letter saying how much that meant to him, that he was his friend.

And even if you're in a hurry, remember love is the best and most powerful way to communicate...a kind "let's hurry guys
" beats out a harsh "HURRY UP!!!"  or "let's go NOWWWWWWW!" anyday.

We need to raise our children to go out and spread kindness in the world. The world is a cruel place, we need more people that fill it with kindess!

#3. YUMMY FUEL FOR THE DAY
Breakfast can be a yummy meal on the go, or at the table, but wherever it is...if it comes from the love of the heart, knowing you are filling them up with healthy food for the day, and it was made with love and good ingredients...than they will have an even better day!

Our favorite is our Morning Smoothie (it's Blakey and Ellie favorite, and you'd never taste the kale or spinach in it) Here's our recipe:

Here's to cheery morning, filled with smiles and love, your friend, Kandee

3 Tips For Treasure Hunting

I'm a hunter. A treasure hunter that is.
It is in my blood possibly.
I used to go to the antique stores with my mom and nana when I was a kid. I did not love it then, in fact, I couldn't stand going to the antique stores.
But now I love it and so do my little ones.
So here's my TOP 3 TIPS TO GET YOUR TREASURE HUNT ON.
WHERE: Anywhere, any store that says ANTIQUE, VINTAGE or THRIFT

#1. Keep your eyes out for how could use things in new and different ways!
•You can arrange, glue and use old jewelry, or even broken jewelry on anything to give it a new glamorous life, like this  DIY Vintage Glamour Clipboard:

•You could glue these brooches on a handbag, on the corners of a mirror or picture frame. Paint them another color or cover them in glitter!

#3. Just look for what jumps out at you. What makes you think, "I love that!"
This little ballerina figurine was adorable, and I thought it would look so sweet on a girls nightstand or dresser.

This little guy was not my style, but something about those ruffles I love! Just hunt for what stands out and catches your eye, and will become a unique style element to add a feeling to your house.
Maybe you love cats, or maybe these little vintage girls with "age numbers" on them, would be the perfect gift for a little girl you know!
This would look really cool and modern or add a retro feel to any room, and anyone that loves records, maybe a dj even, would love this:

All thought of when I saw this is the Siamese cats in Lady and The Tramp, and how they knock a fishbowl like this over in the movie!

I love milk glass, I think it has a light, bright and airy look to it, and I love it! And maybe someone has the perfect place for those turquoise "birds", "swans"....

These cowboy style ranch plates are just too "yippeee-ki-yi-yay" cool, with their little branding iron symbols!

#3. Think of the "treasure", not in the store setting it's in, but in a cool way in your mind!
Take these glasses, they may just look like crazy retro glasses on a shelf with other weird, crazy rettro stuff, but imagine them on a cute vintage table in an Anthropologie store.
Now they look so adorable retro-cool that I'm wishing I had bought them, as I look at the picture and type this!

I scored this cool "Viva Las Elvis" ring at my local antique store. It ws just with a bunch of random "not so cool" jewelry. But I had big plans of coolness for this guy, and it was cheap, and it came home with me! Vintage jewelry makes any look unique because no one can run out to H&M, and buy the same thing!

And I saw this Marilyn Monroe poster that was huge. And for me, it was really cool just to see her make-up so large and detailed!

So happy hunting, if you look around and have a little vision for something, you can find treasured everywhere you look.

If we look at all of life like that, instead of looking for what to complain about, look for the treasures in everything, in every day, you will notice that your heart will start feeling like a beautiful place of a treasured outlook!

Hunt for a treasure, even in the middle of what looks like a stressful or bad day: did you see the sun shining, did you see someone smile at you, hear someone laughing and take a moment to enjoy happiness, or maybe you can be the treasure in someone's day. You be the treasured smile, kind word, or laughter in someone's day!

Off to go hunt for treasures of joy in my day, your Kandee

The Best Mother's Day Present and Spider Bite Ever

Yesterday was Mama's Day, and Alani made me the best Mother's Day presents ever out of her Model Magic we bought at Michael's. Because that's how we roll on Saturday night. Some people stay out at the clubs til it's closing time, we stay at Michael's Craft Store til we shut it down!

Her presents she made me are more precious and valuable to me than anything that could be bought in a store. She made the the coolest mustache ring around:

She also made me that beautiful necklace, a cute lil face,  the green and turquoise item, is a turquoise lipstick!

And this lil bowl-guy, with a mustache is one of my favorites!

We took my mom to Mother's Day Brunch...and this was Blake and Ellie, who love to eat salad and cheese, melon and noodles.

and......cookies.

There was a make your own, cake pop and cookie station, and this plate just looks like happiness to me:

And these were my, special-i-will-always-treasure-these mother's day cards. Alani, Blake and even Ellie drew me a card, and Jordan's is the snoopy card, which what he wrote inside, oh....was just the greatest treasure! I love my babies so much!

And then I noticed, that I had a gotten bit by a spider or something that was not a mosquito bite a few days ago, it was kind of stingy and itchy, and then in the morning, i noticed a weird red line/streak going from the bite to my armpit. That is no bueno I think. So after calling 2 poison control lines, because I do not like rushing to the doctor for anything, and getting a nurses opinion, and no thanks to google for having anything good for me, it seems like blood poisoning or something. So I think I'll be heading to the doctor to see if I'm going to turn into Spider Woman or not.

Huge hugs from Spider woman, I mean, Kandee ha ha ha
